Ecuadorian Diego Luzuriaga is one of the most original voices among Latin American composers. The force and uniqueness of his music spring mainly from his Andean folk melodies, the use of French post-impressionistic sound color, and from his unapologetic South American lyricism.
The Baltimore Symphony, led by Miguel Harth-Bedoya, will play Luzuriaga's Responsorio as part of The Inca Trail concert series on May 30 and 31, 2008. Future performances with the Chicago Symphony and Atlanta Symphony will follow.
Luzuriaga's opera Manuela y Bolivar had its world premiere in Quito, Ecuador. more
